Yes, I’m from Alabama. And yes, I make constant trips across the country for Leadership and Entrepreneurial Seminars. Not only do I enjoy every minute of them…
I believe they are the greatest investment that I can make into my future and into my purpose.
I’m currently sitting in Battle Creek, Michigan, listening to some of the top 1% Leaders in my industry – it’s an amazing experience! My wife and I attend these types of conferences every few months and they have been the most rewarding and memorable experiences of my life.
I’ll paraphrase Frank Bettger, in his classic book “How I Raised Myself From Failure to Success in Selling,” who said “Attend every conference and seminar that you are able to. If you take away only one nugget of truth which has the potential to change your future, it was worth every penny that you will have paid.”
I’ve heard it said that there are a thousand reasons you “can’t attend” conferences, but in all reality, you only need one reason that you MUST attend and all the others disappear. Let me provide a few reasons that these kinds of conferences are vital for your personal development:
—Getting around a different atmosphere – So many of us spend the majority of our time around “normal” people with “normal” mindsets, and it’s healthy for us to get away. We need some time to allow ourselves to think, to rest, to focus and meditate; that happens best outside the rut of the “normal.”
—Hear from 5% Thinkers – Most conferences and seminars spend time, energy, and money to bring in top leaders in their industry. Those speakers normally created their success through hard work and dedication, and there’s massive value that can be taken away from those leaders. Being teachable and surrounding yourself with a community of people who think differently is a huge value for your life.
—You’re taking a chance – Your life will never change in a Major way unless you take a chance and try something different. Do you remember what you did on February 21, 2015? I do. I came to a conference in Moline, IL with a few friends and several thousand people. I don’t remember many of the exact words that were said but I will never forget how I felt. My life will truly never be the same, all because I took a chance.
—The information “Nuggets” – Litte bits of new information can change your life. When is the last time that you placed yourself in an atmosphere where you could learn something new? As long as you’re teachable, you can take away Nuggets of information that when applied, can make major advances in your life.
I don’t have the time to write about the motivational aspects, the advantages of getting outside your comfort zone, the advantage of zooming out for a bigger perspective, the power of a large community of people to make a difference, and many other reasons that you should attend these events.
The break is over at the conference I’m at, and while I love our readers, I need to go back so I can drain all the value out of this experience.
